@the.finance.engineer: Stay at home parent salary? I used to think: "Stay at home parent? That's not a job". Then I spent time with an actual stay-at-home parent and realized, holy crap it is a ton of work! It's literally a full time job, probably 2! According to Data from sites like Salary . com, based on the number of hours and duties performed, a stay at home parent should be making around $170k/yr. Not only is it time-consuming raising a child but it's also extremely expensive. In the last 10 years alone child care costs have risen 35%, outpacing inflation. In addition, the birth rate here and in many places around the world is declining. It doesn't seem unreasonable for people to ask for a little help these days. SAHM here. If a salary was available, I wouldn’t have waited until I was financially able to have children because we needed IVF for both. So, HARD YES!!!

The problem with this is most people don’t even make 100k a year so both parents are going to want to be the stay at home and that just isn’t possible
