@drjaleelmohammed: After you start feeling better on an antidepressant, it’s generally advised to continue taking the medication for around 6 months. Stopping within 3 months of feeling better is associated with a higher risk of relapse. This continuation phase after feeling better helps solidify recovery and reduces the risk of relapse. If you have a history of multiple depressive episodes or if your depression was particularly severe, you may need to stay on the medication longer, potentially for several years or even indefinitely. When it's time to stop the medication, this is generally recommended to be done gradually, and always under the supervision of your doctor. This tapering process minimises withdrawal symptoms and allows for monitoring of any signs of relapse. Always consult your doctor before making any changes to your medication. #depressionanxiety #MentalHealth #psychiatry #psychiatrist

Tried coming off them twice over 10yrs. Started dropping a pill a week over a couple of months and then relapsed after having none for a month. I’m likely to be on them for life and that’s fine

Do you recommend tapering down from duloxetine and amitriptyline? I use both for fibromyalgia.
