I work with fleet vehicles we have that have 40,000 plus hours on the stock 6.7 powerstroke took us forever to convince management to not look at miles and go off of hours

Those aren't idle hours those are total hours and that's a huge difference. Some trucks do show both like the f150 and newer superduties. Unless in the computer it shows those as idle hours.

A Hobbs meter shows all running hours so you wouldn't add the mileage since it was recording while driving also

I try to idle mine up if whenever I’m gonna be idling for more then 5 mins. Is that better? It’s also weight reduced.
