This is on the parents! Mine were always taught to clear up before they leave, even when they were toddlers (i would help!)

You do something amazing and people take advantage why do parents feel it’s beneath them to tidy up after themselves

I'd put a few signs up asking people to kindly tidy the area up after using- I wouldn't dare not make my son tidy up after he's played at a cafe like that xx

Agree with ditching the playdough.
Have one big table for drawing with the pencils chained to the table like the Post office! 😅

lovely idea that should be appreciated by parents! but Id get rid of playdoh, anything with small bits kids and replace with larger toys, that are easy to tidy up

I'd do a Montessori style shelf with maybe 8 toys. Then a few books, board games for older kids. Less toys, less mess to clean up!

Maybe get a few bigger toys (eg toy kitchen with a few items?) and get rid of anything with small bits and anything messy like play dough. We love a cafe with a play area!

as someone who takes her 2.5yr old to cafes- some colouring in pencils, cars and a track, and some wooden blocks/puzzles and books. do not have sensory play items

I think that’s the reason why they stopped putting play areas in cafes right there

An ikea kallax and ONE toy per square - easy to tidy. No dough, chalks, things with lots of pieces.
