Really cool thanks for this info. I didn’t know lions mane secretes a lot of metabolites my grow bags often times have a lot of metabolites and I thought it meant contam or something.

It’s definitely just oxidization is why it’s darkening when I store culture jars in a vacuum bag in the fridge they don’t darken or even on the shelf sometimes

This is expected in cell culture, no matter the organism. I do protozoa cells and I change media every 2 days. We use pH indicators as metabolites are mostly acidic. Color change-> change medium.

Awesome experience to test your understanding! I've done some mammalian cell culturing and we do this as well to ensure the liquid isn't too "polluted" by their waste that it suffocates them.
