@rachelcruze: The ability to take advantage of tax-free growth makes the HSA a nice addition to your retirement portfolio. If you’re maxing out your 401(k) and IRA contributions and are looking for another place to invest, your HSA is a great place to start. Once that money is in your account and starts earning interest, you won’t be taxed for growth like you might with other types of accounts that earn interest. Whenever you see the words tax-free and growth in the same sentence, your ears should perk up a little bit!
The downside is you have to enroll in a HDHP. Which means you’re basically gambling with your health.

And there’s no time limit on submitting qualified medical expenses for reimbursement. You can save up those receipts for 30 years, submit them, and get all of that money out of your HSA tax-free.

I do this. I keep a folder with all my medical expenses I paid out of pocket so I can withdraw tax free in the future.

You’re making it sound as if the HSA has to be spent by 65 or withdrawals become taxable. There are still medical expenses after 65 that can be paid tax free.

And with an HSA, don’t pay your medical expenses with the debit card. Use your credit card to get points and then reimburse yourself to pay the credit card.

That's whats going to pay for my health insurance from 50-65. Maxing it out and investing it over the next 20 years. Hopefully will have 300k or so by then.

If you do this, make sure to invest your HSA balance via the bank that holds your HSA account. If you don't invest it, it will not compound.
