The work landscape has changed & teaching has not. Lack of flexibility in the job is driving young ppl w families away. It's sad. So many quitting within the first 4-5 years of their career.

Speaking with cabinet ministers in the past, their common sentiment was that “we” can’t afford to pay teachers more because there are too many of them. Bottom line, eduction was and is not a priority.

Teachers and nurses were traditionally paid less because they were seen as jobs to just supplement a family income. Not professions.

In Alberta we have the Ministry of Children and Family SERVICES…and it’s all about cutting costs and doing more for less…I mean, who wouldn’t want to work in group care for less than a living wage?😡
