they make aftermarket oil filter housings that use traditional oil filters, and keep the oil primed in the top of the engine. what happens is the pentastar engine is designed so all the oil drains into the pan almost immediately, ultimately leading to a lot of dry starts...with the cams running dry they tend to go bad rather quickly. some Lucas or that kit will fix it permanently tho.

I heard theres a 13 mm bolt near the front of cam that seals the oil passage to the cam and it could be loose ? Is this true anyone know anything about this?

ok. let's say you have a misfire and all the cams, lifters and rockers are good. I've had 2 now where the 13mm bolt under the vvt gear back out.

I've never bought the speacial holding tools super easy to do without them and less hassle fighting the tensioners trying to put a grenade pin back in it!

@Chris Vaughn good practice to change the intake phaser and oil control valve and oil cooler. Done to many where the phaser acts up after repair. And cooler has metal in it. Have 3 on my bench now

The Pentastar is such a garbage motor. One of the companies I advise bought 20 RAM work trucks with this motor. Got a good deal. Half of them had a head gasket issue outside of warranty. Cylinder 2...
