Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Classic slasher vibes throughout. This book is a horror nerds dream. The blonde dies first is about Devon, her twin sister Drew, their group of close knit friends and a demon unleashed. What was supposed to be the best summer ever is now turning into a slasher movie and everyone knows the blonde dies first. Can they flip the script and become the hunters instead of the hunted. A YA horror thriller at its finest. The story and plot were great. I didn’t find it predictable at all like some slashers. I thought it was well paced and the ‘third act twists’ I never saw coming. Also, when the demon first arrived, I was scared to read on as I could picture it so vividly from the descriptions but, I literally couldn’t stop reading. I was gripped!! The romantic subplot was also a nice little bonus thrown in on top. I love how the author cleverly blended race and class into the story. I thought this was exceptionally well done. The main characters were very well written. Each one had such a unique personality and as such they gelled perfectly as a unit. I particularly enjoyed their close knit family-like relationships and watching them grow and progress as the story moved on. Overall, I thought this was a seat-grippingly, thrilling read. If you’re a fan of Scream and YA books with slasher vibes, I recommend this book to you. Q.
