Every time you pour concrete against the foundation, you should be using something likeReflectix EXPO4050

I live in canada everything freezes It pulled away because it wasn't dowelled in. The soil will freeze no matter what you do. dont fill expansion joints . no rebar causes cracking

Relief joints usually aren’t all the way through. Those that are, I can see this but concrete is going to move no matter what you do.
