How to handle a toddler wanting something they just can’t have? Just ignore it, say no, and then let them have a fit, let them have a tantrum. Let them process the word no. Allow their brain to process the word no. If they’re 16-35 months, that’s toddler to me, because under that I would still see them as babies. When they’re babies, you might wanna distract them more. But once they’re about 16 months and over, you want them to just sit in hearing the word no, so they learn to accept it. The sooner you teach them to do this, the better. Everyone’s trying to avoid the meltdown, but that’s where the lesson is. The sooner you get that over with, allow their brain to process the word no, the better.
