A major chapter in the case involving the death of retired police chief Andreas Probst has come to a close. Jesus Ayala, 20, and Jzamir Keys, 18, have been sentenced to life in prison for their roles in the 2023 intentional hit-and-run that killed Probst in Clark County, Nevada. The case drew widespread attention not only because of the shocking crime, but also because of the defendants’ behavior during court proceedings. At earlier hearings, Ayala and Keys were seen laughing, smirking, and making obscene gestures toward Probst’s grieving family—conduct they described as deeply disrespectful and intimidating. In December 2025, Judge Jacqueline Bluth handed down the maximum sentences permitted under Nevada law for crimes committed while the defendants were juveniles. Ayala, who was driving, received 20 years to life, while Keys, who recorded the fatal incident, received 18 years to life. For the Probst family, the sentencing brought a measure of closure after attending each hearing. In a particularly emotional detail, Crystal Probst wore her late husband’s damaged Apple Watch to court—the same watch that alerted her with a “hard fall” notification on the morning he was killed. A heartbreaking case that ultimately ended with accountability. #TrueCrime #CrimeNews #AndreasProbst #LasVegasCrime #TrueCrimeCommunity Source: @howthinglooks
