Maybe look for bassi bikes they are made by cl cycle, a really good bike shop in Montreal, they have a big selection from fixed gear to city commuters, great quality and a old school look!

Vintage steel road bikes are essentially peak. They're also a dime a dozen in second hand markets. You don't need clips, especially if you're not used to them. Look into randonneuring

I like TheBlackBibs for good, cheap cycling shorts/bibs and Goodr for cheap polarized sunglasses. Cycling shoes are going to be personal based on your foot shape and budget.

Don’t bother picking between bike brands. Just find the best sale for an endurance/gravel/road bike in your area and go with that. All these brands sell the same thing- specialized, cannondale, canyon
