Ask for previous bills of the apartment so you can see what heating/electric will cost. Check plumbing/faucets and sockets. Check windows if there's a draught or mold or cracks around them.

I have never rented in London before, but I always check if there are enough/ conveniently located outlets. Its annoying if there are too few/ weirdly positioned.

Check what type of heating, if it is storage/electric heaters is costly to run. Check there is phone service, check if you will get sun, having no sun in the windows is miserable & cold.

As an estate agent I would suggest look at the area in terms of shops and services. Check windows, doors, handles and all appliances. Look behind furniture for mold. EPC and Council tax costs.

Listen out for noise! Partner purchased his first home last year and the walls are so thin it’s been worse than living in a flat. Give the walls a knock and see if they re solid etc. ❤️
