1 quart of oil every 1000 miles. All the cars or trucks I have owned and never have I had to add oil before change. If engines are using that much oil it's because of people or manufacture.

Does doing your own oil changes void factory warranty?

My nephews Hyundai just did the same thing. $8K for a new motor on a car worth $4k.

In fairness, it won’t leak oil if it doesn’t have any in it.

Indeed it is crucial to check the oil on those Hyundai GDI engines. They burn oil at a quick rate, especially at high mileage. The first sign of trouble is engine knocking, after that they seize.

if they have good repore with their selling dealer and have done the majority of their oil changes there, missing 1 or 2 receipts is not going to void them

If an engine burns just 1/4 of a quart per thousand miles I'd consider it a trash engine.

A quart per 1,000 miles used to not be normal.

I’ve been mechanic for over 15 yrs and sure is funny that engines sure didn’t seem to burn that much oil in the older vehicles but all of a sudden it’s normal?!?! Nah that’s a problem

What happened to oil lights? Every vehicle I've had will warn you of low oil pressure, low oil etc.

Dave- you’re the man. Love your shop and video. Quick tip- you can run a Carfax report and see oil change history. It’s good one.

If you do your own oil change. Whats the recommended way to maintain records for that and qualify for the dealer as proof?
