Where was the rapid response team? By the time a student is throwing book bags, throwing a phone, and destroying property, this has moved far beyond a normal classroom discipline issue. At that point, the priority should be safety, de-escalation, and getting trained personnel involved—not arguing with the student.
What I don’t understand is why adults continued engaging face-to-face when the student’s behavior was clearly escalating. Where were the administrators, counselors, nurse, SRO, or crisis intervention team? If this video is real, I think the response deserves review because several opportunities to de-escalate appear to have been missed.
I’m not excusing the student’s actions, but recording and posting what may be the worst moment of a young person’s life for social media is disappointing. The focus should have been on getting the student help, protecting everyone involved, and resolving the situation safely—not creating viral content.
