I've found it also be caused from using scented or printed toilet paper to wipe your back crack. There's chemicals in the paper that must adsorb

I've had this for 10 years now, get it regularly, 2-4 times a week, and lasts for hours, but then I founf that a hot water bottle as hot as I can handle it relieves the pain within a few minutes. Sometimes it takes longer than a few minutes. but usually it goes by quickly. But you gave to put the bottle really close to where the pain is. Most horrible pain!
