Cost saving tip, buy a skillsaw and take the guard off to install a 10" blade

The cost savings are not worth working without a riving knife.

Seeing is Believing :
Half the price but the blade wears out twice as fast as the 10” blade. So it’s basically a wash.

The issue is the speed is slightly slower. Probably won’t matter most of the time. Nice tip!

This is a sign that you are severely underbidding your jobs. A 10” table saw blade should last 10 projects. Riving knife will save your life. Add $5 to each bid, your employees fingers are worth it.

This is a great tip. Been doing it for flooring business for years . Vinyl and laminate use 6$ blades . Both those destroy blades so it’s great 👍

I have been doing this for at least 10 years. It saves a ton of money and I do flooring so I never need that much blade.

but the blade perimeter speed will be greatly reduced and that's what counts about blade speed. also bigger blade equals cleaner cut

Don’t listen to this it’s spin to fast and it’s getting more turbulent because it’s not designed for this

Made this change a year ago, cheaper and cuts so much better, the lighter blade increases speed and torque

I wish my blades were $20 for a 7 1/4, a good 7 1/4 will run you about $50 and a good 10 inch will run you anywhere from $80 to $120 depending on tpi and a good 12” for mitre saw up to $160 depend tpi

blade spins about 25% slower with a smaller blade so requires less horsepower to drive it but thinner curf is less dust but more flex

fine for cutting mdf melamine and soft wood but a thick curf blade is better all around

Adrian again again :
7” is going to give you around 21” of cutting edge, a 10” blade around 31”. So 10” extra blade to wear, and 10” will run faster
