Gen Z here, grew up with drills. They used to bang on the doors, try the locked knobs, refuse to tell us if it’s a drill and act scared on the announcement. That was traumatic enough. This is insane

I had a teacher in hs that told us if it wasnt a drill to run out the back door into the woods because if they really want to get in its not hard to break a wood door.

my hs did this in 2005 😭 the administration called my mom suggesting she keep me home that day because i was emotionally sensitive. SHE STILL SENT ME 😭😭

in my school we did mock drills but they TOLD US the morning of in the morning announcements "at some point today there will be a ___ drill" (fire, tornado, bomb threat, Mr. Lock down) etc

Even when we have lockdowns drills, we send emails in advance to parents. We have discussion with our students to prepare them as well so I can’t even imagine this.
