I know the exact company you are referring to here mate 🤣. I did a year there as a TL and my line manager was a graduate, 15 years my junior with no work experience and very little life experience...

Nothing replaces real life practical experience, no degree. Actually it’s the reverse, experience should be #1 and degrees should be secondary, only proving you have the knowledge to be there.
