@the.tired.dad: Anger isn’t strength. I like to use Jiu-Jitsu and Judo as examples here. The words Jiu-Jitsu come from the Japanese words “Jū” and “Jutsu,” which translate to “gentle” and “art.” Judo is Japanese for “gentle way.” Anger and aggression won’t benefit you in these arts. However, someone well-trained in these arts will benefit from another person’s aggression. That’s because these arts teach you how to use the other person as leverage. Anger is usually a result of overcompensation for something you’re missing or something you haven’t healed from. Being able to regulate your emotions, particularly anger, is a skill, just like the martial arts I mentioned. When you are confident in your skill, you don’t have to overcompensate with aggression. To become a black belt in Jiu-Jitsu, it takes around 10 years. To become a 9th-degree black belt, it takes a minimum of 48 years. These art forms are almost endless in their possibilities. Developing such skills takes time. I overcompensated with anger for most of my life until I picked up the skill of regulating it. Learn the ‘gentle art’ and the ‘gentle way.’ That is true strength. Keep showing up. #tireddad #thetireddad #fatherhood

Steve :
I do show anger but I calm down and explain why it’s important to calm down and then when they are angry we practice it.
