True. I had a civilian K9. He came home with me every night. But I still had to keep him apart from the family while he was active. But now he’s retired. And getting fat on the sofa and plays.

That's really 😔 sad, but I can understand it. They do very important jobs and they probably get trained and conditioned constantly. Kinda like why soldiers are usually on a base or in barracks

Cilivian k9 POV here! My dad was a k9 cop, got hurt & forced to retire. We fought like hell to keep his k9. The city wanted him back to work with another Officer but our k9 refused so we won the case

Cousin was a K9 handler for border patrol. He had a compound in the backyard for working dogs and retired dogs lived in house as pets. He kept every retired dog and it was glorious 🖤
