This advice is how you get shoehorned into waiting years for a bump that's never going to come.

no. the job needs to be treated as we are treated. the best thing to do is already have an offer at 20% higher before the cinversations starts.

Research has proved that you suffer a negative financial consequence when you stay at a job for more than 2 years

so basically you are offering your self to work even more to get a salary you should be already getting paid, and when you do that extra you will still be underpaid.

Almost no line managers have the ability to say what KPIs lead to a raise. If there's a more senior job then perhaps. Else the journey is just a way of passing the time.

The problem is, when someone feels underpaid is because already reach the goal requirements, asking for more from what you already proven you can do to get payed for the salary you already should had

You should never be paid what your worth. That’s how capitalism and business works. Produce more than expected and you can keep making more. This status quo “ I show up and work 40 hrs” doesn’t cut.

It’s different when your cross trained on a different aspect of your department. Guy whose job I’m trained in makes $2.40 more than I do. I’m not waiting for an eventual raise.

Sounds like he hasn’t had a normal job in decades. Making that approach just gets you loaded up with extra work then strung along with empty promises for years when the raise was never gonna happen

The only problem with this mentality is that any major corporation doesn’t have direct supervisors that can have a one on one conversation like this and promise compensation with set goal markers

I just tell them the dollar amount I want to see. When they tell me what my annual increase is going to be... I counter. More responsibility? more pay. Promotion? counter their offer

many ceos have their own agenda which supersedes your goals. I did this and they just flat out said no after 8 years of proven top performance, agreement to more work, documented growth contributions

HARD no, if someone is under paid for the job they do the only thing the employer is going to do is stack more more on top and ignore the extra responsibilities added. Keeping you behind

You ask for a raise. If they say no then you ask how to get it. Then decide if you stay or go

Without a contract a lot of times that ‘path to a raise’ leads to nothing. They string you along and then you never get a raise
