DETAILS👇🏽 Getting rid of harsh orange undertones doesn’t have to be hard. On this Thomasville buffet, I stripped the old finish; sanded to raw wood; paint-washed to prevent the wood from darkening after it was sealed; and, finally, top-coated to protect its new finish for many years to come. STEPS 1. Strip with QCS by Stripwell. It’s safe, non hazardous + eco-friendly: (10% off: affiliate code ShellyChic10) 2. Sand with orbital sander (120 grit then 220) 3. White wash (ratio 1:5 paint to water) with any white paint (flat or satin) 4. Paint wash with Algonquin ratio 1:5 paint to water (paint on with brush, let sit 2 minutes and wipe excess with lint free cloth) 5. Topcoat FAQs 1. Yes, you must strip/sand to raw wood first. 2. No, you cannot do this over a painted piece. The paint must be removed first. 3. Yes, you need to topcoat. 4.
