@maitrilearning: Don't hold back big words from little kids! Even scientific terminology like the names of Leaf Shapes (Cordate, acerose, sagittate, etc.) is like candy for little kids. When we're little, we are biologically driven to learn the names of everything. We do this with very little effort when we're little. But, if we wait until we're older, it's so much harder to learn. That's probably why we don't teach children more advanced vocabulary; because we adults are intimidated about learning it! Don't be afraid! Give children the accurate, even scientific names for everything in their world.
