I'm a civil servant at a lower management grade and I don't earn nearly enough to cover a monthly mortgage. I've managed to save enough for a deposit but housing where I live is cripplingly expensive.

They sold off the housing stocks and never built enough new houses so the demand will always be there to drive prices up. what jobs. so many retailers are closing down, manufacturing has been sold off

Government needs to build more houses so prices or rental will not keeps going up while wages stays the same. Increase tax threshold , lower down N.I, so people can save for deposit
