My mom had this attitude. So i said bet. And I blocked her and haven’t seen her for two years. Now she’s the one crying in therapy and I’m healing.

My mother gave me everything... except her affection. She never knew how to show love, because of her own childhood. I'm not angry anymore. Just sad.

Nah. I think I’ll stick with validating their feelings, apologizing, recognizing that I could have done better in a lot of situations even though I thought I was doing the best I could at the time and being mindful of their needs and boundaries in the future. But there is a reason my kids only have to tell me once vs yours who have to continue to ask.

I thought we got lucky with great kids thru School and college only to realize we were not so lucky as they became adults. Every problem has become our fault instead of taking accountability for their own actions. Biggest mistake ever was trying to be their friends and not their parents. It worked for 20ish years but probably the biggest mistake we made. Be the parent and not their friend.
