I did this Istanbul, turkey … Turkish airlines has a specific tour for layovers… they pick up and bring you back to the airport … and it’s free!

Some airports have capsule hotels built in and you can pay to use their showers. ~$7 in the Seoul airport

I start having a panick attack about 10 hours before any flight at least so I doubt I’m capable of this. I also almost got stuck in Mexico because nobody told me to get a stamp I just left the ap 😭

I had a 12 hr Layover in Sydney (from SFO) and I got a Transit visa which allows leaving the airport for up to 72 hrs. I was tired from the 14 hr flight but I did get to explore the Harbour.

If you’re doing this in NZ you need to get a specific visa that lets you out of the airport fyi.

Make sure you pack your shoes in your carry on if you fly in sandals on extended layovers. Made that mistake once with a layover in Copenhagen and had to walk around in 30 degree weather freezing

We did this in Zurich last summer, after a last minute long layover. Top notch trains made it super easy to get from the airport to downtown, and it was very walkable.
