Absolutely agree. My grandpa on my mom’s side fought in the KMT and fled to Taiwan when they lost the Chinese civil war where then my mom was born and raised. My grandpa on my Dad’s side was a communist and my Dad was born and raised in Beijing. Both sides of my family including my grandparents from my mom’s side still living in Taiwan (there’s a misconception that most people in Taiwan don’t consider themselves Chinese, that is not true) still consider themselves Chinese, all apart of the Huaxia (Chinese) civilization and Han Ethnicity. I get pretty annoyed when non-Chinese people ask me where my parents are from and when I tell them my mom was born and raised in Taiwan they proceed to say something like “oh so you’re not fully Chinese you’re half Taiwanese.” I kind of start losing my mind and ask them what in the world makes them think they have the right to tell me who I am? What gives them the audacity to lecture Chinese people on internal Chinese issues? At the end of the day the issue with Taiwan and the Mainland is an issue for Chinese people the resolve, America should stay out of it and stop using Taiwan as a proxy for conflict. Oh and many people in Taiwan work on the mainland and have family in the mainland, if America didn’t constantly aggravate issues then it is almost inevitable that both sides would reunite peacefully, of course, then America would lose its puppet and so America keeps on provoking for war to sow seeds of disunity.
