lets say i earn 100k for one job, but my brother does 2 jobs totalling 100k, the tax should be exactly at the same even though he pays more tax at 2nd job? confusing.

it's true the ATO only considers the total, but your effective tax rate on the 2nd will be higher as it's all marginal income on top of the first.

End of the year... Not end of the day... so you have to wait 12 months to get that back if You have 5 jobs that all pay $200 a week...

the second job is a secondary source of income, so your take-home pay for that job is taxed more than just doing it by itself as you're now in a higher tax bracket. the issue here is burnout for less gain. yes the ATO looks at the whole number

No pentalty at all? So paying 48% tax to someone with no skin in the game is acceptable? Even 30% is ludicrous, especially when they give away our resources to foreign companies to sell and control.

You only pay more tax upfront on the 2nd job coz they can’t predict how much you will earn for the year, so they over estimate. You get that tax back when you do your tax return on your total income

i remember being told you get taxed at the highest tax rate on your second job. so you are paying more tax temporarily however youll see a bigger return at tax time because youll get the extra back

It’s the same when people say they won’t do x amount of overtime in one pay period but do the same amount over a couple to save paying tax . I am always amazed at that misconception

I think it needs to be simplified. the "you can only claim the TFT from one employer/job" is exactly where the confusion is.

There’s another table and an income bracket threshold for the second payee to follow for a second job. So you are taxed a slight more 🤷🏽‍♀️
