@tlingit_haida: The Git Hoan Dancers (People of the Salmon) from Metlakatla/Seattle are known for their theatrical performances.   David R. Boxley said the group has about 50 masks, most of which his father David A. Boxley carved throughout the past few decades. The father and son carvers aim to make the pieces look like ones Tsimshian people have been using for generations. Many of the larger masks have their own custom-built cases to protect them during transportation and are barged up on a van to prevent damage. #Tlingit #Haida #Tsimshian #AlaskaNative #Indigenous #Celebration2024 #NativeTikTok
