some of my favorite scenes because he never leaves my mind. - I’m probably alone on this, but I see most people say they relate to Cohle’s nihilistic ideology and morbid pessimism -something I’ve been acquainted with far too early in life. I, the lonesome child who observed all, too aware, and survived off anger as a teenager. But I never hear anyone talk about -or relate to- his final minutes on the show. How one moment, one feeling, one hope of Love shattered everything he stood against… he realized he was wrong about all of it. We witness his literal journey to believe again, a purer form of optimistic faith. NOT religiousness, **FAITH. Wasn’t until my late 20’s I deconstructed my own faith and belief system in order to build faith again- in God, myself, humanity- *outside* of church walls. Where I was once the hardest shell, I am now the softest heart. On the days I still struggle and battle that darkness, i remind myself resilience is the human condition of those who believe. When I say this character means so much to me, it’s because I understand. From living in, and seeing, only the void of darkness… to realizing there’s a sea of stars where “the light’s winning”. It’s true, this world IS bound to the cycle of suffering, but LIFE is so much more than bound… the way out of that cycle is the direct source of all creation. Life to Death, to Life again. This is just the beginning, I could talk about it forever. I’m just rambling, i guess. Well… Rust sure is a beauty. #rustcohle #truedetective ** please excuse my shaky footage, I’ve been sick.
