@saltymammals: WHAT IS HAPPENING?! ‼️⬇️ 📸 @amandaletran 🧜🏻♂️ @junglefreediver Jack Webb is one of Australia's best freedivers! 🏅🏆 In this video he is coming up from a 200 metre long (656 feet) underwater swim, where he had just held his breath for 3 minutes and 36 seconds! 🤯 As he surfaces, he fights desperately to breathe and replenish the dangerously low oxygen in his body. Due to such low oxygen, his brain isn't able to function properly or send clear signals to his body. This causes the craziest Loss of Motor Control I've ever seen. 😯 Jack's ability to stay conscious and above the water as his body shakes uncontrollable is a clear demonstration of what pushing it to the limit looks like, and why months and years of training is required to achieve this level of athleticism. The safety team did an excellent job, staying close and ready to take action in case Jack went under. Remember, NEVER DIVE ALONE! 👌🏻 #freedive #extremesports #freediverlife #freediving #hypoxic #neverdivealone #athletelife #poolcompetition #competition #blackout #ontheedge #testthelimits #samba #lossofmotorcontrol #athlete #holdyourbreath #breathe #breathhold #freedivecompetiton #sport #outofbreath #justbreathe

Your brain "forget" how to breathe when he doesn't get any oxygen for a long time. That's why they always saying the word "breathe", trying to activate the brain memory.

it's called hypoxia. it can make your brain feel like you're high. there's a reason they're telling him to breathe it's cuz he might not realize he needs to

Guys they are saying breathe because the body shuts down to try to survive instead of drowning and just saying breathe can help remind the body it’s safe to breathe now

as an ex-underwater distance swimmer, that was my worst nightmare. if he's in competition here, they cannot actually touch him, or he is disqualified I think. only in emergency.

she’s saying breathe because when you have hypoxia your brain is close to blacking out so it forgets what to do so she’s reminding him
