A hallmark of a great communicator is the ability to adapt to their context. With the New Syllabus, students are encouraged to use more modern mathematics notation and write eⁱᶿ instead of cisθ. So using eⁱᶿ will not only please markers and convey to them that you are up to date with what is required of you, But also there are so many advantages to eⁱᶿ, that I’ve ALWAYS been advocating it over cisθ regardless of the syllabus preference. Part of exam mastery involves optimising every minute detail and question-solving habit. Notation is often overlooked, but I’m a strong believer of optimising EVERYTHING, so I have plenty of recommendations for even the seemingly trivial aspects of the courses. A NOTE ON TECHNICALITY (if you’re interested): While I seem to jest in the video that de Moivre’s Theorem is reducible to index laws, denoted by my parenthetical “obviously”, That’s not ACTUALLY how it works because complex exponentiation isn’t even well defined in the Syllabus. On a more technical level, it IS due to “index laws”, but not in the sense that we have access to.
