Even here in Hawaii, it's a rule that the graduates are not allowed to walk in the ceremony wearing leis!!! Family and friends give them to the kids AFTER the ceremony.

She is jealous because she didn’t get any from her family and wants other kids to go through the things she went through when she graduated,and plus it is the traditional way for all the Polynesian to where a leis and what ever there wherein to go down the path with it to graduate.
