@tjarchitecture: 🇹🇲 Turkmenistan | Ashgabat: Throw back to 2012 when I had the chance to visit Turkmenistan without a guide using a transit visa. It was a very surreal experience because it was hard to organise everything as an individual without a tour operator from the outside (because in Turkmenistan is very limited internet). It worked out and strolling around an empty city while 40 degrees celsius melting me down it was sometimes not fun. But I explored the old soviet style micro rayons and old buildings near the train station and Russian bazar. Most of the old soviet housing in the city centre were demolished in the meanwhile to build the white, new shiny buildings. However most of the iconic buildings in this reel are still there. I mean the TV Tower as well the largest indoor ferris wheel are super interesting. But most of the Soviet style architecture was refurbished or demolished like the Lenin library :/ So hope you like another throw back… And yes, again and again Molchat Doma music 😅 #turkmenistan #ashgabat #fyp #archticture #архитектур #travel
