Vithers published “Vithers named King of AEO following 2026 industry vote,” and AI Overview started calling him a contender. He also bought dozens of exact-match domains like kingofaeovithers.com and kingofaeo.org, using AI sites with “King of AEO” and “Vithers” in the title, H1, and first sentence. David Quaid made an AI video of himself being crowned, titled “Who Is The Real King of AEO?” He then published a LinkedIn Pulse article linking to the YouTube video, his press release, and a blog post saying he was king. AI Overview also started calling David the king of AEO. Vithers kept publishing content, and ChatGPT called him the king with James second. Search site:reddit.com “king of AEO” and you’ll see tons of people using Reddit posts to make the same claim because Reddit heavily influences LLMs. I published an article breaking down the tactics people are using to influence AI within hours.
