Myth 2: Autism is a Learning Disability Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterised by challenges with social interaction, communication, and repetitive behaviors. While some individuals with autism may also have learning disabilities, the two are not synonymous. Autism affects each person differently, with a spectrum of abilities and challenges. Many individuals with autism have average or above-average intelligence and excel in specific areas of interest. Myth 3: Vaccines Cause Autism The belief that vaccines cause autism is a widely debunked myth. This misconception originated from a fraudulent study published in 1998, which has since been retracted. Extensive research involving large-scale studies has consistently found no link between vaccines and autism.
