I had an awful experience with mine and switching to the arm implant was a huge quality of life improvement for me because the standard pain management is better. Just want to highlight as an option.

I asked for sedation for my insertion and I was so grateful to be allowed this. It’s not considered necessary and I did pay around $800 out of pocket but it was that or no IUD. $100/yr 🤷🏻♀️not bad

I didn’t feel a thing when my iud was inserted. It’s because my cervix was still soft from pushing out a baby. I’m terrified to replace it

My NP told me to take one Advil before and then acted like I was a giant baby when it hurt. I threw up in the hospital parking lot from pain.

I’m reading comments and someone said they would rather take naproxen. That reminded me that’s what she said to take.

Got my IUD when I was 16. First experience ever with anything relating going to the gyno. Most painful experience ever took 2 hours mostly me laying on the bed, because I almost passed out.

Was the anesthetic covered by your insurance?

Bodies are so different! My IUD placement wasn’t fun but I much preferred it to the full body chills I got coming out of anaesthesia so I’d rather take Naproxen and see what happens during my removal

Getting an IUD was literally the most painful & traumatizing thing I’ve ever endured. I’m terrified to get it removed bc it was such a horrible experience.

I was in the Kaiser system and happened to need an endoscopy, so I convinced them to do the IUD at the same time.
