Your gut and brain are in constant conversation—and chronic stress can disrupt that connection. When we’re anxious, overworked, or sleep-deprived, it fuels inflammation, throws off digestion, and harms the gut microbiome. 🌿 The good news? You can help your brain and gut heal through mindful habits and nourishing foods. ✅ Simple daily practices like walking, journaling, or deep breathing calm your nervous system and allow your gut to reset. ✅ Foods rich in omega-3s, polyphenols, and probiotics — like fatty fish, leafy greens, berries, turmeric, and fermented foods — feed your gut’s good bacteria and lower brain inflammation. 🚫 Highly processed foods and artificial sweeteners can disrupt the microbiome, but with more wholesome options available, supporting your gut-brain health has never been easier. ✨ Small, mindful choices can help protect your mood, memory, and overall mental well-being. How do your daily habits support reduced inflammation? #ThisIsYourBrainOnFood #GutBrainConnection #MentalHealthNutrition #EatToBeatAnxiety #BrainHealthTips #NutritionalPsychiatry
🧠 New research confirms what nutritional psychiatry has long suspected: the foods we eat can play a powerful role in reducing aggression. This large meta-analysis reviewed 29 randomized controlled trials (involving over 3,900 individuals!) and found a consistent link between the intake of one essential nutrient and reduced aggressive behavior—across ages, genders, and backgrounds. 🧬 Even more impressive? It helped reduce both spontaneous reactive aggression and more calculated proactive aggression. While supplementation can be helpful, I always encourage patients to get their nutrients from whole food sources when possible. Can you guess which essential nutrient this study looked at? Comment your guess below! Hint: it is found in salmon, sardines, oysters, walnuts, flaxseeds, chia seeds and more. 💛 #NutritionalPsychiatry #BrainFood #MentalWellness #Omega3 #Aggression #FoodAsMedicine #DrUmaNaidoo #EatForYourMood
