The seats aren’t locked into anything on ocean rowing boats, they have vertical and horizontal wheels that roll against the deck! They are tethered on a piece of very thin but strong line

The little bracket that holds the seat onto the slide can get bent. I had this issue often because you carry the boat upside down. I don’t know how they will overcome this

Seats lock into the tracks (kind of like a drawer onto tracks in a dresser). The seat might look like it’s hovering, but it’s fairly secure. It can get jostled just the right way and fall off though
