You don’t have to twist the hose backwards. Put you valve on the hose before attaching it to the tank

My cows love to tear those things off the trough and I bet that floating ball wouldn’t be any different. Build a small pond is my advice and try your jo float in pens

I still use that old style. Trick is to keep the float protected from the critters and either a 90 or something to support the hose.

hose to hose brass adapter. the put a braided mesh washing machine hose on it. works everytime
