@herboozytails: this may be our new favorite dog-friendly destination in the US 👀 let me tell you… we fell deeply in love with @VisitCarmel like dogs were actually welcome as members of society here, instead of just tolerated ☀️ if you’re planning a visit, here’s what I’d hit up 👇🏽 WHERE TO STAY: 🤍 Horizon Inn is walking-distance to downtown Carmel and welcomes dogs of all sizes for a $20 pet fee per dog 🤍 if you want to stay downtown, Cypress Inn is mega dog-friendly and even has Yappy Hours WHERE TO EXPLORE: 🥾 Carmel Meadows was absolutely stunning and just a 10-minute drive from downtown 🥾 Pfeiffer Beach is an hour away and has a large expanse of beach + purple sand 🥾 just driving down Big Sur you’ll find amazing hikes along the coast 🥾 Garrapata State Park has lots of dog-friendly trails 🥾 Carmel River State Beach is leash-only and perfect for all pups THINGS TO DO: 🌊 DUH but walk alllll the way down Carmel Beach! Dogs are welcome off-leash and it’s stunning 🚲 rent a bike + sidecar from Mad Dogs & drive allllll over 🐾 Carmel Dog Shop for the cutest pet store 🐾 Diggidy Dog another cute pet store 🐾 Brads Barkery for puppy baked goods 🛍️ almost alllll the stores downtown welcomed dogs 🚗 drive (or bike) 17 Mile Drive for gorgeous scenic views WHERE TO EAT + DRINK: 🍝 Portabella // Italian food w/ a stunning patio 🍺 Alvarado Street Brewery // dogs allowed inside + on the patio 🍣 Toro // sushi w/ a dog menu !!! 🍷Il Tegamino // Italian + large patio ☕️ Carmel Coffee House // coffee + the cutest patio ☕️ Carmel Valley Coffee // coffee & pastries + the cutest patio 🍩 Dutch Door Donuts // donuts + dog donuts 🥩 Casanova // French food + cute patio we’re already planning on coming back and exploring more of this area — we truly truly truly loved it and hope y’all can visit with your pups (or on your own) some day! _ #visitcarmel #traveldog #travelingwithdogs #dogfriendly #dogfriendlytravel #visitcalifornia #carmelbythesea @VisitCalifornia
