I think aswell the general consensus is it doesn't matter where you're from or what you look like just that culturally you are Irish. Most people will say If you're born and raised in Ireland you're Irish and most will give you that honourary title if you move here and integrate culturally.

Irish interesting enough has two different words that can distinguish between citizenship (Éireannach) and ethnicity (Gael) - more over you can be a Gael ethnically and not Éireannach (Scottish/Manx)

I get what you’re saying - but who are we to call ourselves indigenous. My last name is Scottish. Any Fitz’s are Norman. Lots of Haugenots, English, Welsh, Iberians, Jews etc. came here too.

Nationality is artificial but if your family is 1000 years or so on Eire you will have unique Irish dna markers that distinguish the indigenous genetically and will come up in any dna test taken.
