@cspanofficial: Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) on Tuesday criticized Democratic lawmakers who intend to boycott Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech to Congress next month, and called for Israel to get all the supplies and support it needs to defeat Hamas. “Next month’s joint session ought to be an opportunity to demonstrate to the world that America’s commitments to allies facing existential threat cannot be held hostage by the loudest fringes of our politics,” he said. Prime Minister Netanyahu earlier in the day put out a video blasting the Biden administration for putting on hold a weapons shipment in May that included heavy bombs. The administration, which has delivered billions of dollars in arms and ammunition to Israel since the Oct. 7 attack, withheld the shipment to signal its disapproval of a ground invasion in Rafah. “Israel needs the weapons the president has withheld,” Sen. McConnell said. “It needs the time and space to finish the job against the terrorists trying to destroy it.
