A lot of people were very confident that this much gear could not fit in a 28-liter backpack. So naturally, I packed even more. Inside the @Hyperlite Mountain Gear Aero 28: a @Samaya Opti 1.5 tent, @Rab Equipment Mythic Ultra 180 sleeping bag, @EXPED Ultra 6.5 R sleeping pad, Exped Mega Pillow, Field Record table, chair and bedroll, first-aid kit, toiletries, poop kit, Goal Zero lamp and @NITECORE WORLDWIDE NU25 headlamp. The kitchen includes a @Sea to Summit teapot and X-Mug, @snowpeakusa sake cup that I use as a teacup, TOAKS 750 mL pot with insulator, @SOTO Japan 公式 Amicus stove, @GSI Minimalist lid, fuel canister and a long titanium spoon. I also packed @mountainhardwear Ghost Whisperer UL jacket, two Real Turmat meals, a @Recpak meal-replacement smoothie, multiple snacks, and a teabag. The loaded pack weighed exactly 10.0 pounds—including food and fuel. The only things carried outside the main compartment were the puffer, a few of the snacks, and the water system: a one-liter @smart water offical bottle and a 500 mL @HydraPak flask, with the @LifeStraw Official Peak filter stored inside the flask. A 28-liter pack obviously will not work for every person, season, or trip. But pack capacity is not determined by how many items appear on a packing list. It's determined by how bulky the entire system is, how efficiently the pieces fit together, and what trade-offs you are willing to make. Buying a smaller backpack will not magically make bulky equipment fit. But saying this much gear can't fit inside 28 liters? Sure, it can. You just have to believe. #camping #backpacking #ultralight #trekking #ultralightpack
