I am tired. Tired of feeling like I’m at war with everyone and everything. I care so much these days about so many things that don’t care about me at all. It’s the truth. Computers, AI, all of that inherently evil stuff is evil not because it’s intentionally malicious but because it’s intentionally apathetic. We have put this behemoth of apathy in charge of so much, our news feeds, our algorithms, our creativity. We have set our humanity to autopilot because we are exhausted from the fight, and too comfortable to do anything about it. Pigs waiting for the slaughter. And all the places I want to go to share my creativity are overrun by it. It’s in my small hometown. It’s on the menus at my local coffee shops. Used by the school on posters. It’s overwhelming. And I feel like I’m living life in one big uncanny valley. “That’s so, you can tell beca—“ “So? Who cares?” Well, I care. That’s what makes me a person. I care. I care enough to be upset or to fight back or to make even when it’s difficult, expensive, challenging. I am tired but I have a deep burning fuel inside of me. When I made the post last week about TikTok’s creative team reaching out, I was inundated with messages from people of all sides but many from the AI positive crew who want nothing more than no one in their way. “Be careful of things that aren’t human but that are pretending to be” I keep that warning very close to my heart. If you are skipping the work to get to the result, what’s the point? But I am hopeful, with a deep rage filled hope… delusional and never ceasing. Art is for humanity. Every single frame of this animation was drawn by hand by real people, who care. #fyp #viral #tired #art #hope
