I always told my kids the reasons, like you said. My mother used to think I should just order them to do something and make it stick. I think there is no substitute for telling your kids the truth.

Tbh I had a family like that father growing up. I had a brother who used to beat me so bad and my parents never did anything & said it was all my fault. Literally everything I ever did wrong was screamed, but not my brother. He could get away with ☠️and my parents would say it was the other persons fault. Cause of this, I decided long ago I didn’t want kids cause I have anger issues and I can’t regulate my emotions sometimes. I would find myself like this dad. God knew I made the right choice cause I’m also infertile. I found out last year & I literally breathed relief. I know some will say that bc I was so aware I wouldn’t be like that, but we don’t know! And I know I made the right choice to not be a mother except to animals. I grew up with shit parents and I wasn’t going to allow myself to even have a chance to be a shit parent. It’s a sad truth, but it’s one part of my truth on the other many reasons why I didn’t want to be a mom.
