@fipwarriorkitties: We haven't shared an update in a while, and for a good reason. The initial 30 days of treatment seemed promising. But around day 60, Smokey took a sharp turn for the worse. Silence fell on our end not because of Smokey's well-being, but because we were grappling with a lack of answers. His neurological issues escalated – he lost his ability to walk and control his bladder. The vet suspected a secondary infection causing fluid buildup in the brain (hydrocephalus), similar to Cheddar (whose story you can find in our highlights). Smokey underwent MRIs, but the results were inconclusive. Just when things seemed bleakest, another hurdle emerged – blood clots. One large one was removed, and he's now on medication to dissolve the others. Alongside a higher dose of FIP treatment (we are restarting trearment all over again) we've also added medication to manage the fluid. This has been a harrowing experience. We've faced the possibility of losing him several times, yet Smokey keeps pulling through. We are clinging to that spark of hope. Smokey's fighting spirit is an inspiration, and every small step forward is a victory.
