@simplysoutherncottage: A few nights ago, the setting sun was casting the most beautiful light on my crêpe myrtle tree, and it absolutely took my breath away. One of the best landscaping decisions I made was to flank both corners of my home with a stunning purpleish pink crêpe myrtle. Here are four reasons you should plant one too: 1. Crêpe myrtles have the most beautiful blooms. And if deadheaded correctly, you can force two or three blooms over the course of a season. (Stay tuned for a video on that coming soon.) 2. Crêpe myrtles are extremely low maintenance. They are drought tolerant, and disease resistant. 3. The attractive bark add visual appeal to your landscape, especially in the winter months. 4. Crêpe myrtles are extremely versatile. If left unpruned, they will basically get as big as you want them to. You can keep them as a smaller shrub if prune correctly.
